Mythoasterism is the tradition of collecting together catasterisms (constellation myths) as well as catasterisms considered collectively as organised by Astronist scholarship.
Catasterisms relate to the formation of different constellations in a pre-Astronist setting that have more recently be classified as part of the Astronic tradition of mythology.
Many involve the concept of prostellation which is distinguished from transtellation by involving the process of becoming a particular constellation, usually by the power of a higher being. In the organisation of these catasterisms, Astronist scholarship has formed two categories, each of which focus on the prioritising certain myths over others:
- Predenance (the primary catasterism)
- Subdenance (the set of subordinate or secondary catasterisms)
